Олауда Эквиано (ок. 1745~1797) родился рабом, сумел выкупиться из неволи, стал моряком и купцом, пережил множество приключений на суше и на море, участвовал в Семилетней войне и полярной экспедиции, кроме того побывал парикмахером, слугой, надсмотрщиком на плантации и правительственным комиссаром.
